Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personality dimensions and perfectionism with job stress in sports coaches in Tehran.
Methodology: The research method was descriptive correlational. The statistical population of this study was all sports coaches in Tehran in the academic year 1398-1989. The sample size of the present study was 278 persons selected by simple random sampling based on Krejcie-Morgan table. Data were collected using Eyseng's personality dimensions (introversion, extraversion), Philip L. Rice (1992), and Hill's Perfectionism (2004). Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise regression were used to analyze the data using spss20 software.
Findings: The results showed that the correlation coefficients between personality dimensions (introversion, extraversion) and perfectionism with job stress were statistically significant (p <0.05). Also, predictors of job stress in coaches based on personality dimensions (introversion, extraversion) and perfectionism were significant and the predictor variable of personality dimensions (introversion, extraversion) and perfectionism had predictive power of criterion variable (occupational stress).
Conclusion: Personality dimensions (introversion, extroversion) and perfectionism are associated with job stress in coaches except introversion.
